Anxiety may feel like it’s part of who we are, but it doesn’t have to be that way. No one is born experiencing anxiety, it’s simply a pattern of thinking we’ve subconsciously picked up throughout our lives. As with stress, a certain amount of anxiety is a positive thing, it keeps us safe. But high levels of anxiety, panic attacks and paranoia can be crippling.
Hypnosis helps by allowing you to choose to calm the mind and body, reframing the way you think and which thoughts and feelings you focus on. It empowers you to regain control over your anxiety, and enables you to adopt a calm, controlled and optimistic mindset.
Trying to control anxiety through rational thought alone can prove to be extremely difficult. Hypnotherapy communicates directly with the unconscious mind to reassure and calm the reactions in the body. This is where anxiety stems from – your unconscious. The work we carry out under hypnosis can help you take control of your anxiety and learn to release it quickly and replace it with new healthy responses to old anxious thoughts.
If you are serious about giving up smoking, hypnosis has been proven to help. Because smoking is a habit, it is controlled by the subconscious mind. By using hypnosis to access your subconscious, you will find it so much easier to strengthen your willpower to overcome cravings. By visualising yourself as a non-smoker, your subconscious will know how to act like a non-smoker thus improving your health, fitness, stress levels and finances.
I offer a one-to-one stop smoking package delivered in either one or two sessions, totalling around 2.5 – 3 hours either face to face, or over Zoom.

Healthy Eating Habits
Do you know what you need to do to lose weight or eat more healthily, but you just can’t seem to put it into place? Hypnotherapy can help you unlock the subconscious thought patterns that are leading you to overeat or succumb to emotional eating or sugar cravings.
Hypnosis works by using hypnotic suggestions to replace old eating behaviours, habits and limiting beliefs, making it easier for you to adopt the strategies that will help you achieve your goals and maintain them.
I am not a nutritionist, so I can’t tell you what you should be eating, but I can help you to act on what you know you need to do to change your relationship with food forever; by helping your subconscious work for you and not against you.
A certain amount of stress is a positive thing, it motivates us and enables us to get things done. However, too much stress can be harmful to our wellbeing and mental health and, if allowed to continue, can lead to physical problems such as high blood pressure, heart disease and IBS.
Hypnotherapy treatment for stress is concerned with managing existing stress and preventing future stress reactions. I focus on helping you recognise your stress triggers then either eliminate them, or alter your response to them. A great benefit of hypnosis is that it is essentially a state of relaxation, and it isn’t physiologically possible to experience relaxation and stress simultaneously.
Insomnia / Sleep Problems
Lack of sleep can affect energy levels, focus and concentration, can increase stress and anxiety and ultimately mental, physical and emotional stress. The more stressed and anxious we become, the more our sleep patterns are affected – lying awake at night worrying about how we will cope with the coming day.
Hypnotic suggestions can help you switch off the active state of mind and block or reject negative patterns of worrying or logistical planning whilst lying bed. Combining this with routine sleep hygiene techniques and self-hypnosis techniques which allow you to experience deep relaxation whenever you choose, is a proven form of insomnia treatment..
Do you have an irrational fear or phobia that is limiting your life? Phobias are caused by a threat or danger perceived by the subconscious mind. Because hypnosis allows us to access the subconscious, hypnotherapy is an extremely successful way of addressing irrational fears or phobias.
I can work with you subconsciously, to remove the irrational stress response associated with your phobia, allowing you to manage your fear and start doing those things your phobia has prevented you from doing.
Do you find it difficult to make time to truly relax? Booking in for a pure relaxation session means setting aside time just for you. There is no hypnotic suggestion in these sessions, just half an hour of complete relaxation, switching off from the outside world with some guided visualisation. Available in person or via Zoom.

The subconscious is the part of your mind that stores everything you have learned from the day you were born. Often low self esteem stems from feelings of low self-worth in childhood or in past relationships.

How I work…
You can visit me for an in person appointment at my therapy room in Peel (Isle of Man), where you are guaranteed a relaxing and safe space away from the distractions of your day to day environment.
For those who cannot conveniently travel to see me face to face, or prefer to relax in the comfort of their own home, I offer hypnotherapy via Zoom. All you need is a quiet space, headphones and a stable internet connection.
I realise it is not always possible to make the time during my working day for a full hypnotherapy session, even via Zoom, especially if you have young children at home. In this instance, we can talk briefly over Zoom, then I will send you a bespoke personalised hypnotherapy recording along with instructions for listening to it in your own time.
